The SSMA is pleased to award 8 scholarships to graduating Shrewsbury High School seniors. Each scholarship is valued at up to $1,000, and is presented in honor of former musicians and music educators whose dedication to the performing arts and Shrewsbury students continues through the generosity of these established awards. We encourage all of our SHS seniors who meet the following requirements to apply. These will be awarded at our annual Performing Arts Awards Night on May 7, 2026.
Requirements
- The applicant must be a current Shrewsbury High School senior and have been a member of one or more regularly scheduled major performing group (Band, Choir, Orchestra, Jazz Ensemble, or Theater) for at least three (3) of their high school years, including credit from other schools for students who have transferred to SHS.
- The applicant must be accepted to an accredited four (4) year college, university, or performing arts conservatory.
Procedure
The SSMA Scholarship Committee will evaluate the applications on the basis of all the information received and the documents submitted. Scholarships will be awarded at the Performing Arts Awards Night. All decisions are final. The designated sum will then be sent to the applicant after proof of acceptance (such as acceptance letter from the conservatory, college, or university) is submitted to the SSMA. If the school does not allow students to declare a performance major until a later date, the award will be held until such documentation is provided. If not all of the scholarships are awarded, the remaining funds will be returned to the general fund of the SSMA.
Deadline
All applications and supporting documentation must be submitted by 11:55 PM on April 6, 2026. Submissions after this deadline will not be accepted.
